Disruption at Key Locations
At 4:00 PM EST, the group entered the Lander Marine Terminal without permission, disrupting ongoing operations. They later obstructed a critical gate checkpoint at Fort Standish, creating delays and traffic congestion on the Jones Beltway. These actions raised concerns about the facility’s security and the safety of the surrounding area.
MTA Response and Investigation
The MTA immediately placed the involved personnel on Administrative Leave. The Standards & Compliance Office is conducting an internal investigation to determine the extent of the policy violations. The MTA will announce the findings by Sunday.
Accountability and Future Steps
An MTA representative stated that the actions of these individuals do not align with the department’s standards. The MTA emphasized its commitment to accountability and transparency. It has apologized to the Port Authority, the Port Authority Police Department, and the Mayflower National Guard for the disruptions caused. The MTA is focused on restoring public confidence and ensuring adherence to protocols.
