Yesterday, at roughly 5pm Eastern Daylight Time, the Discord server of the Mayflower Republican Party was raided by an unknown individual or group. In the MRP server, the channels “war chest” and “primary registration” were deleted, the former keeping track of Republican donations, and the latter providing a platform for potential party candidates to register their bids for the upcoming May elections.
The raid was conducted through a webhook, which sent the following message:
@everyone
join a better party lol
The message linked to the Mayflower United Discord and the campaign server for orangebear22, a gubernatorial candidate.
When asked for comment, Mayflower United declined to provide a direct statement and referred MPBS to a previously issued announcement. Said announcement declared Mayflower United as “victims of a false flag attack,” and described the incident as “a sad attempt to frame us as bad actors amid the GOP’s ever-increasing desperation for relevancy.” No further comment regarding the integrity of the attack itself was provided by Mayflower United at the time of publication.
In contrast, the Republican Party issued a strong statement condemning the raid and expressing deep concern for the integrity of the electoral process. A spokesperson for the Republicans stated:
This stunt is nothing more than a reflection of the political tactics embraced by Mayflower United and Governor orangebear22. Their willingness to mock such a serious situation speaks louder than words.
It shows a disregard for integrity, for our institutions, and reveals their desperation. I urge every citizen, when May 2nd arrives, to make the right choice at the ballots.
Reject incompetence. Reject corruption. Choose leadership that stands for integrity, accountability, and the people.
At the time of publication, Mayflower United had not issued a statement condemning the raid itself. Instead, they asserted that they were “victims of a false flag attack,” disputing any involvement.
Regardless of the perpetrator or intent, the attack caused significant disruption to the Mayflower Republican Party’s Discord server, deleting important channels and repeatedly pinging hundreds of supporters in a short span of time.
The long-term effects of the incident on the party or the election remain unclear. However, the disruption comes at a crucial time, with the May election looming over.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
