It’s out with the iconic white and black uniforms for the Mersea Police Department. The MPD has received a reoutfitting of its entire uniform surplus, ditching its iconic color scheme for an unexpected rebrand. This comes after unconfirmed reports of a major overhaul of the entire MPD branding, including uniforms, vehicle liveries, and logos.
The department ditched the white blouses and black trousers for a uniform similar to that of the Wisconsin State Patrol or Indiana State Patrol. The department is donning a navy blue blouse, with a matching cover and baby blue slacks. The appearance is a far cry of its predecessor, who had its routes in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police uniforms. The badge also underwent a change. Where as it used to be a coat of arms, similar to that of the Portland Police Department, it now has a typical police shield with a bald eagle placed atop, similar to the Sergeant Shield of agencies like the Lander City Police Department, Mayflower Transportation Police, and Port Authority Police Department.
Opinions are mixed. Some have complimented the uniform, saying it appears much more professional. Others have compared it to the security guard uniforms seen in the Five Nights at Freddy’s Video Game Franchise. And others have said it doesn’t fit, especially with MPD’s branding still being unchanged.
However, when an MPBS Journalist spoke to unionWARE Staff Member PowerPueri, he confirmed uniforms, vehicle liveries, and branding, were all due for a change, implying that the new uniforms are a temporary measure. He said that the upcoming changes would be similar to that of the Nassau County Police Department, including the uniforms, liveries, patches, and overall branding. This has drawn concerns from MPD members, some of whom have said that the entirety of the ingame police population will soon resemble the LCPD too closely, and that there’s little uniqueness left in terms of police uniforms (besides the Sheriff’s Office, State Police, PAW Natural Resource Officers, and Military Police).
Only time will tell what the finished rebranding of the Mersea Police Department will look like. Until then, you’ll be seeing MPD officers in a navy blue/baby blue uniform.
